All the regular weekly bridge at Exeter Golf & Country Club ('The Club') is in the form of duplicate pairs. At present there are only two special events each year involving teams-of-four; and no rubber bridge takes place at all, unless arranged privately. Table money is 40p per head. The Section is not affiliated to the English bridge Union, so that no Master Points are issued.
Duplicate pairs bridge is played as follows:
n Monday and Tuesday evenings at 7 pm: restricted to the more experienced members of the Bridge Section, who must come with a pre-arranged partner. (A ‘host’ may be available, but this cannot be guaranteed.)
n Wednesday afternoons at 2 pm and Thursday evenings at 7 pm: open to any members of The Club, and intended for less experienced players. Participants normally draw for partners, but newcomers may play with a pre-arranged partner on their first three visits.
Various social events are also arranged, including an annual dinner and a Christmas party.
Members of The Club wishing to play Bridge are welcome to join the Bridge Section, but may not play on Monday or Tuesday evenings unless they have reached an appropriate standard. To join please obtain a copy of this form (see below), complete the tear-off slip, and either leave it in the Section’s mailbox in Reception or hand it to the Director at any Bridge session, together with a nominal annual subscription of £1 (intended solely to define the membership of the Section). The Director in turn will pass it to the Treasurer, who will add the applicant’s details to the list of members. .
Copies of this form are available from Reception, from the Director at any Bridge session, or may be downloaded from our website at www.egccbridge.co.uk
