All the regular weekly bridge at Exeter Golf & Country Club ('The Club') is in the form of duplicate pairs.   At present there are only two special events each year involving teams-of-four; and no rubber bridge takes place at all, unless arranged privately.

Duplicate pairs bridge is played as follows:

n         Monday and Tuesday evenings at 7 pm: restricted to Bridge Section members, who must come with a pre-arranged partner.  (A ‘host’ may be available, but this cannot be guaranteed.)  Table money is payable at 40p per head, and Master Points are credited to English Bridge Union members.

n         Wednesday afternoons at 2 pm and Thursday evenings at 7 pm: open to any members of The Club, and intended for less experienced players (though Bridge Section members are equally welcome).  Participants normally draw for partners, though they may come with a pre-arranged partner on their first three visits. Table money is 20p per head, and Master Points are not available.

Various social events are also arranged, including an annual dinner and a Christmas party.

Any member of The Club wishing to join the Bridge Section should complete the form below and hand it to the Secretary, or leave it in the Bridge Section's pigeon-hole in Reception.  All applicants, unless very experienced in duplicate pairs, will be asked to come and play on three Monday or Tuesday evenings on a trial basis, for which the Secretary will if necessary arrange partners.  Once accepted by the Bridge Section committee, applicants will be asked to pay a nominal annual subscription of £1.00, intended mainly to define the membership of the Section
